Praetorian Partners with ITT Exelis in Support of Rapid Cyber Development for the U.S. Air Force

AUSTIN, TX, Aug. 1, 2012 — Praetorian, an industry-leading information security service provider and cyber research firm, announced it is partnering with ITT Exelis (NYSE: XLS) as part of the Agile Cyber Technologies (ACT) indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract issued by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The award has a potential value of up to $300 million over the life of the five-year task order-based contract.

Praetorian is part of the Exelis team, which is comprised of 16 small businesses, two academic institutions, and 13 large companies. ITT Exelis acts as the prime contractor for its business and institutional partners. Praetorian is among five partners with headquarters based in Central Texas.

“A core feature of this contract is the rapid and agile process,” Ryan W. Smith, Vice President of Research & Development, said. “This is critical to maintaining cyber superiority in the face of rapidly changing technologies and threat landscapes,” he added.

Partnerships were established to provide cyber security research and products, such as software, hardware, technical documentation, and technical reports, as part of the Air Force Research Lab’s Agile Cyber Technology program. Areas of cyber security research will include threat avoidance and cyber defense; cyber operations; network exploitation; situational awareness; command and control; modeling, simulation, and war-gaming; cyber infrastructure, and mission assurance.
