Ryan W Smith Mentors Google Summer of Code 2011
Praetorian’s VP of Products and Development, Ryan W Smith, has been accepted as a Google Summer of Code (GSoC) mentor through his leadership in The Honeynet Project. Ryan will be the primary mentor for a proposed Android Static Malware Analysis project and a secondary mentor on another related Android Dynamic Malware Analysis project. Praetorian is proud to support Ryan’s continued work through The Honeynet Project during this year’s Google Summer of Code where he will be mentoring a college student through a new project in mobile security.
Mobile malware continues to be a growing global threat and Android will likely continue to be a primary target of malicious actors as their worldwide market share continues to rise to the top. Praetorian has made a concerted effort to stay abreast of the threats in the mobile malware space. Through ongoing research initiatives, Praetorian plans to provide insight into the threats posed as well controls and recommendations to protect against them.
